Cycling holiday Sevilla Cadiz Individual

8 Day individual cycling holiday in unspoilt Andalusia, through rolling hills to the beach. You start this tour in Seville and cycle through different landscapes to the oldest city in Europe, Cádiz. Through the Coto Doñana Natural Park, the Brazo del Este bird sanctuary, through the hills around Arcos de la Frontera you reach the endless coastal region with the beautiful beaches of Chipiona and Rota. This week is not only about enjoying cycling through varied nature, it is also a culinary experience where you can taste the specialties of the region.

Program

Day 1.

You will be picked up from the airport by Pedrotours and taken to your accommodation in Seville. There we discuss all the information you need for a carefree week while enjoying a welcome drink. We adjust the bikes to your personal wishes (saddle height, handlebar height, etc.) and give you insider tips for your first evening in this beautiful, elegant city and then your Andalusian adventure can begin!

Overnight stay    Ilunion Alcora  or equivalent hotel.

Day 2. Tour Seville

Today you can discover Seville by bike. Seville has an excellent cycle route network, developed since 2007. Today’s route is around 30 km and goes along the main streets, squares and monuments. The shopping streets excel in elegance, also note the beautiful flamenco dresses in the shop windows.

In the evening you can eat delicious tapas and – for those who wanted to – experience the passionate flamenco dance up close.

Overnight stay    Ilunion Alcora  or equivalent hotel.

Day 3. Sevilla El Rocio

From the hotel you cycle to the pilgrimage site ‘El Rocio’; a trip on the paths used by thousands of pilgrims who come to this village every year at easter to honor the virgin Rocio. They come from far and wide, with horses and horse-drawn carts and because of the Andalusian flamenco clothing it is a colorful whole. The journey there is considered to be just as important as the ceremony at the virgin Rocio herself.

Even if you cycle outside the pilgrimage week, it is an experience to follow this route that runs through the beautiful Coto Doñana Natural Park. The majority are gravel and sand paths, easy to ride with the bicycles at your disposal. The arrival and the staying in el Rocio, the ‘cowboy village’ with dirt roads and white houses that you share with a small group of permanent residents, is a unique experience. Overnight in Rocio

This tour is 62 km 3 ¾ hours cycling

Overnight stay   Hotel La Fonda  or equivalent hotel.

Day 4. El Rocio – Los Palacios y Villafranca

Today we cycled from El Rocio via Coria del Rio to Los Palacios y Villafranca.
Coria del rio is a village on the banks of the Guadalquivir, the river that is 657 km long and has been particularly important for the history of Seville. This tour again goes through part of Coto Doñana Natural Park, with a visit to Dehesa de Tornero which is known for its bird populations. Waterfowl are found in large numbers and migratory birds can show up everywhere so that every visit brings surprises.

We take the ferry across the Guadalquivir in Coria del Rio.

This trip is 75 km 5 hours cycling

Overnight  Hotel Manolo Mayo  or equivalent hotel.

Day 5. Los Palacios y Villafranca – Arcos de la Frontera

Today you cycle from Los Palacios y Villafranca to Arcos de la Frontera. Again, a variety of birds can be seen, with large populations of (black) storks and herons in particular attracting attention. A visit to the town of las Cabezas de san Juan for a cup of coffee and then continue cycling through the rolling countryside of pure Andalusia, with olive trees and the vineyards of the famous Barbadillo wine. Arriving in Arcos de la Frontera you can fully enjoy and relax in a beautiful hotel.

This tour is 57 km 4 hours cycling

Overnight in Arcos de la Frontera  Posada de las Cuevas  or equivalent hotel.

Day 6 . Arcos de la Frontera – Jerez de la Frontera

Today you will first visit Arcos de la Frontera, spectacularly situated on a rock. Arcos dates back to Moorish times and is one of the famous white Andalusian villages, with winding streets, beautiful patios and colorful courtyards. There is also a constant beautiful view of the area where you have cycled and will continue to cycle. After visiting the town you cycle to Jerez de la Frontera, famous for its flamenco, bodegas and horses. The world famous sherry is produced here. Jerez has a lively nightlife center and delicious tapas, which you will certainly enjoy. Try an amontillado or an oloroso in this sherry city!

This tour is 41.5 km 2 ½ hours cycling.

Overnight Hostal Fenix  or equivalent hotel.

Day 7. Jerez de la Frontera – Cádiz

The last cycling day is a mix of cycling through a very varied landscape and visiting 3 small coastal towns: you cycle to the sea. From Jerez to Sanlucar de Barrameda, through a beautiful rolling area of vineyards and wheat fields. Sanlucar de Barrameda is a seaside and port town, located on the same Guadalquivir that we already know from Seville and Coria del Rio. You can take a short break here to taste the best ’tortillitas de camarones’ and see some of this surprising town. Then you drive parallel to the coast in about one hour to Chipiona. This coastal town is very popular with Spaniards from Seville. It has beautiful white sandy beaches, there are many eateries along the boulevard; all in all very relaxing. In Rota, the third coastal town, there is time for a drink and a swim, before you take the ferry to the oldest city in Western Europe: Cádiz.
Once you arrive in Cádiz, you cycle to the hotel and get a good first impression of this beautiful colonial city. The bicycles will be picked up and you can take a nice city walk using our tips.

This tour is 62 km and 3 ¾ hours of cycling

Overnight  Plaza de la Luz  or equivalent hotel.

Day 8:
Depending on your flight, you still have time to enjoy Cadiz. Don’t forget the charming beach of La Caleta and the botanical garden of Parque Genovez. And then it’s time to go to the airport. Or do you want to extend your stay? Then we will arrange that for you!
