Individual Cycling holiday Sevilla Cadiz Andalusia

Cycling holiday in beautiful Andalusia, we start our tour in Seville and cycle through different landscapes throughout the week. The Doñana nature park the Brazo del este bird sanctuary then hills, forest and we end along the coast with the beautiful beaches of Chipiona and Rota. And finally, the oldest city in Europe, Cádiz. This week is not only enjoying nature and cycling, but we also visit restaurants specially selected by our Spanish partner.

Day 1.

Arrival in Seville, you will be picked up by coach and taken to your accommodation in Seville. Afterwards there is time to taste the atmosphere of this beautiful city in Andalusia, before we have dinner together in one of the good restaurants in the center. This way we get to know each other a little better.

Day 2. Tour Seville

In the morning we get our bikes. After having adjusted the bikes to personal wishes (saddle height, handlebar height, etc.) we make a tour through the city. Seville has an excellent cycle route network, developed since 2007. Today we cycle around 30 km in the city and pass the most important monuments. In the evening we eat tasty tapas and - for those who want - we visit a flamenco show. -A night in Seville

Day 3. Sevilla - El Rocio
From our hotel we cycle to the pilgrimage site "El Rocio"; a trip on the paths used by thousands of pilgrims, who come to this village on Pentecost every year to honor the virgin Rocio. They come from far and wide, with horses and carts and because of the Andalusian flamenco clothing it is a colorful whole. The trip there, which sometimes takes a week, is experienced as just as important as the ceremony with the virgin Rocio herself. Even though we go outside the pilgrim week, it is an experience to follow this route that runs from the Aljarafe through the beautiful nature park Coto Doñana. The majority are gravel and sandy paths, but good to ride with the bicycles that we have at our disposal. The arrival and stay at El Rocio, the "cowboy village" with sandy roads and white houses that we share with a small group of permanent residents, is a unique experience.

Day 4. El Rocio - Coria del Rio
Today we are going from El Rocio to Coria del Rio, a village on the banks of the Guadalquivir, the river that is 657 km long and has been particularly important for the history of Seville. This tour goes through a part of the Coto Doñana Natural Park, with a visit to the Dehesa de Abajo, known for its bird populations. Waterbirds occur in large numbers and migratory birds can pop up everywhere so that every visit causes surprises.
We spend the night in Coria del Rio.

Day 5. Coria del Rio - Arcos de la Frontera
Today the longest trip of this cycling week: we cycle from Coria del Rio to Arcos de la Frontera. The day starts with a ferry, crossing the Guadalquivir. The tour goes through the Brazo del Este nature park: we cycle past cotton and rice fields, with shallow bird-rich ponds. Again a variety of birds can be seen, with large populations of (black) storks and herons in particular attracting attention. We take a coffee break in the town of las Cabezas de san Juan and then continue cycling through the rolling countryside of pure Andalusia, with olive trees and the vineyards of the famous Barbadillo wine. In Gibalbín we take a second break before we start the final leg: a challenge! Arcos de la Frontera is at an altitude of 185 meters so we get a steep climb, but once we arrive we can fully enjoy and relax in a beautiful "Cortijo" with swimming pool and a view of Arcos.
Overnight at Arcos de la Frontera
This tour is 77 km

Day 6 . Arcos de la Frontera - Jerez de la Frontera
Today we first visit Arcos de la Frontera, beautifully situated on a cliff as we saw yesterday. Arcos dates back to Moorish times and is one of the famous white Andalusian villages, with winding streets, beautiful patios and colorful courtyards. There is also always a beautiful view of the area where we cycled and still go cycling. After our visit to the town we leave for Jerez de la Frontera, famous for its flamenco, sherry and horses. We arrive in Jerez in the afternoon, which gives us the opportunity to take a city walk together. A completely different experience than in Seville, because of the different character of this city, also in architecture. Jerez has a lively entertainment center, which we will certainly enjoy after our dinner together.
This tour is 41.5 km

Day 7. Jerez de la Frontera - Cádiz
Our last cycling day is a mix of cycling through very varied nature and visiting 3 small coastal towns: we are going to the sea! We drive from the city of Jerez to Sanlucar de Barrameda in about an hour and a half, through a beautiful rolling area of vineyards and grain fields. The large white "fincas" (farmhouses) of landowners are scattered by the landscape. Sanlucar de Barrameda is a seaside resort and port, located on the same Guadalquivir River that we already know from Seville and Coria del Rio. We take a short break here to taste the best "tortillitas de camarones" and see some of this surprising town. Then we continue our way and drive between small private plots parallel to the coast to Chipiona in about one hour. This coastal town is very popular with Spaniards from Seville. It has beautiful white sandy beaches, there are many eateries along the boulevard; all in all very relaxed. Wine has been produced in Chipiona for 5 centuries - we can taste a glass of it in the bodega near the castle, before continuing to Rota. This time we follow the coast along luxurious resorts, over wooden paths through pine forests and sometimes over earthy paths. The Atlantic Ocean is always appearing to our right. In Rota there is time for a drink and a dive, before we take the ferry to the oldest city in Western Europe: Cádiz. The bicycles are now being collected. Arriving in Cádiz we walk to the hotel and get a good first impression of this beautiful colonial city, the oldest in Western Europe and known from the movie "Mi Vida". Later there is free time to further explore the city yourself. And in the evening we have a surprise dinner for our last evening together ...!
This tour is 62 km 3 ¾ fietsen hours cycling

Day 8: Transfer to the airport. And goodbye!
Depending on the flight, we may still have time to take a walk on the beach or visit the botanical "Parque Genovéz". Or what to do in the city center. And then you will be brought back to Seville and it's time to say goodbye ..... Gracias y adiós!
